My twin grandsons will be celebrating their first birthday soon! I was blessed to witness one of my daughter’s ultrasounds. I never had an ultrasound with my two pregnancies so it was a special delight and blessing. Even in the womb these two little boys were different as night and day. Baby A was mellow while his brother, Baby B was kicking and squirming so much that the nurse could hardly get his measurements. At that moment I saw the Creator’s hand “fearfully and wonderfully” making Aaron and Logan.
It has been 47 year since Roe v. Wade; I was in college at the time. What would I have done if I had been faced with an unplanned pregnancy? I can’t truthfully say that I know for sure. The post-abortion hotline, Word of Hope helps people cope with a decision that now haunts them. To those burdened from an abortion decision Word of Hope says, it is written — If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Their ability to have mercy on those who doubt [and] save others by snatching them out of the fire (Jude 1:22–23a) depends on people like us for support.
Father, we ask your blessing on Word of Hope, the post-abortion healing ministry of Lutherans For Life. Help Deaconess Chrissie Gillett minister with Your Son’s compassion to those suffering from an abortion decision. May many people find forgiveness in Jesus through our Mite offerings. Give us willing hearts to be advocates for Life. All this we humbly ask in the precious name of your Son, Amen.
